Senior AI Engineer (Libra - Legal AI Assistant) (m/f/d) (Legal AI)

Location: Hybrid work in Berlin, Germany, with remote work up to three days per week. Work from anywhere within the EU is available for up to 20 days during a twelve-month period. Applicants may be required to attend onsite interviews at a hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end AI product features using LLM APIs.
• Develop chat-based user experiences and behind-the-scenes AI integrations for legal workflows.
• Build and optimize RAG systems covering document parsing, semantic chunking, and retrieval pipelines.
• Develop scalable backend services with FastAPI, Python, and modern tooling.
• Design agent orchestration systems and evaluation infrastructure for complex, multi-step workflows.
• Monitor AI quality, reliability, security, and data privacy while collaborating with Product, Legal Engineering, and Design.

Requirements

• Deep experience building products that integrate LLMs through APIs.
• Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and common data science packages.
• Solid software engineering and security fundamentals.
• Experience with AI developer tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.
• Excellent English communication skills required.
• Ability to work autonomously, make pragmatic trade-offs, and deliver in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

• German fluency.
• Experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
