Head of Data - Finance

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA, with flexibility in how and where work is performed; interviews are conducted virtually.

Salary: $274,000–$417,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead distributed data scientists and analytics engineers embedded in Finance, setting technical standards and priorities.
• Own metric governance and the single source of truth for operational finance and investor reporting.
• Develop data models, pipelines, and metric definitions supporting FP&A forecasting, planning, Anaplan feeds, and board reporting.
• Partner with Accounting, Tax, and Investor Relations to improve data quality and automate financial reporting.
• Lead the evolution of Finance data architecture, including modelling standards, layer design, and orchestration patterns in dbt and Snowflake.
• Advise Finance leadership, including the CFO, on AI-ready data foundations and automation opportunities.

Requirements

• Experience leading distributed teams across time zones within a Finance function.
• Background in environments subject to SOX compliance or public-company reporting scrutiny.
• Strong understanding of data flows, pipelines, semantic layers, governance, and controls.
• Ability to write code, build data models, and explain analytical findings to CFO-level stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills across engineering teams and senior business leadership.
• Ability to make forecasting and planning data reliable and audit-ready.
