TL;DR
Lead Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure/GCP): Designing, deploying, and operating secure, scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure for public-sector digital services with an accent on cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, containers, and reliability engineering. Focus on leading cross-functional delivery, solving complex security and performance challenges, and building resilient platforms with automated deployment, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
Location: Any UK office hub: Bristol, London, Manchester, or Swansea; part-time remote working is available for staff.
Salary: £70,000–£90,000 per year

What you will do
- Lead cloud engineering delivery within multidisciplinary client teams and make final decisions on complex technical issues.
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, highly available cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Manage cloud resources, containers, networking, access controls, and security using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Build automated provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and CI/CD processes, while optimising performance and resource usage.
- Implement load balancing, caching, content delivery, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Provide high-tier support, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to the internal Cloud Practice.
Requirements
- Eligibility for SC security clearance, including five years of continuous UK residency and a five-year employment history or full-time education record.
- Significant experience in cloud engineering leadership and building, deploying, and supporting cloud services.
- Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP, with experience architecting infrastructure through deployment and support.
- Strong software engineering background, hands-on experience with multiple programming languages, and knowledge of modern engineering practices.
- Deep experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering.
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams across product, design, and technical functions.
Nice to have
- Technology consultancy experience and relevant cloud certifications.
- Knowledge of cloud partner programmes, well-architected frameworks, and UK public-sector technology guidance.
- Familiarity with Python, Bash, JavaScript, Agile practices, and Test Driven Development.
