Senior AWS Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

Location: United Kingdom; the role is subject to UK Government BPSS screening and may require eligibility for SC or DV clearance.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support secure AWS infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, S3, EBS, load balancing, auto scaling, and backup and recovery.
• Administer and optimise Linux environments through hardening, patching, performance management, monitoring, and compliance.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and CI/CD integration.
• Support Kubernetes, Docker, and CRI-O workloads together with networking, middleware, DNS, VPN, monitoring, and logging platforms.
• Develop resilience, disaster recovery, cloud migration, and platform modernisation strategies while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Strong experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise Linux environments.
• Broad knowledge of Linux, Windows, networking, middleware, systems integration, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Proven experience delivering resilient infrastructure in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and related automation tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CRI-O, AWS platforms, Splunk, monitoring, logging, and operational tooling.
• Eligibility for UK Government BPSS screening and potentially SC or DV security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree and extensive AWS Administration certification experience.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer or hirify.global Certified: Terraform Associate.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, container orchestration, service-level metrics, and performance measurement.
