TL;DR

Staff Engineer (AI): Building and optimizing the home of the AI workforce by developing autonomous AI agents with an accent on agentic workflows, context engineering, and evaluation discipline. Focus on solving the hardest technical problems, scaling AI reliability, and defining AI-native engineering practices.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Sydney, Australia (Sponsorship available). Hybrid model: 3 days in office required.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for frontier AI products and raise the bar for design and review across teams.
• Deploy onto the company's hardest technical problems to ship high-leverage AI capabilities in days.
• Define and implement AI-native engineering practices, including agentic workflows and evaluation disciplines.
• Ensure autonomous agents are trustworthy in production by turning incident patterns into systemic improvements.
• Partner with product, design, and customer teams to identify and ship high-impact outcomes.
• Mentor and level up other engineers to multiply overall technical impact.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in AI-native building, using coding agents to decompose problems and orchestrate build-run loops.
• Strong engineering craft in backend development, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience in cross-team technical leadership and setting standards adopted by others.
• Product-minded approach with the ability to align technical decisions with customer outcomes.
• Ability to ship continuously while balancing pace with high quality and reliability.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Sydney, Australia.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node.js, Python, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
