TL;DR
CMM Inspector (Aerospace) (PC-DMIS/CMM): Developing and executing coordinate measuring machine inspection programs and performing dimensional inspections for precision components and structures used in long-range hypersonic strike vehicles with an accent on GD&T, CAD alignment, and tight-tolerance measurement. Focus on programming complex geometries, supporting first article inspections, analyzing measurement data, and resolving nonconformances in a high-velocity defense manufacturing environment.
Location: Onsite at the Torrance, California facility; must meet applicable U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements. Travel of up to 30% may be required.

What you will do
- Develop, debug, optimize, and execute PC-DMIS CMM programs for complex geometries, GD&T callouts, and tight-tolerance features.
- Set up CMMs, qualify probes, configure fixtures, and align CAD models for inspection.
- Perform in-process, final, visual, and traditional dimensional inspections of machined parts, sheet metal, hardware, and mechanical assemblies.
- Generate inspection reports, analyze measurement trends, and maintain accurate quality records.
- Support first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 and document nonconformances.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve defects and improve inspection methods.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience programming with PC-DMIS and operating CMMs in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to create and optimize inspection programs from engineering drawings and CAD models.
- At least 3 years of experience inspecting mechanical or structural hardware with calipers, micrometers, height gages, and similar tools.
- Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, including advanced concepts.
- Experience with probe qualification, fixture setup, CMM maintenance, and digital inspection documentation.
- Must satisfy applicable U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements; security clearance or additional government authorization may be required.
Nice to have
- Experience with multiple CMM platforms or metrology software such as PolyWorks or Calypso.
- Experience inspecting complex aerospace components, flight hardware, or mission-critical systems.
- Knowledge of scanning, point-cloud inspection, statistical analysis, and measurement uncertainty.
- Experience mentoring junior inspectors or supporting R&D and early-stage production programs.
