Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: US - Bellevue, WA; employees are required to work in the office 3 days per week. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $145,300–$232,700 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead machine learning initiatives across dispute decisioning, merchant matching, and recovery prediction.
• Own the full ML lifecycle, including problem framing, feature engineering, model development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Build and productionize scalable models using large-scale transaction and dispute datasets.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Engineering to turn business needs into data-driven solutions.
• Develop explainability, experimentation, and performance measurement frameworks to drive adoption.
• Design GenAI and LLM-based solutions for explainability, workflow automation, and decision support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, or 0 years with a PhD; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience applying data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling to complex business problems with measurable outcomes.
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL.
• Experience with large-scale datasets, scalable models, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Hive, or Spark.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git or GitHub.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects, influence stakeholders, and provide technical thought leadership.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in AI, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience commercializing analytical or ML solutions in production.
• Experience in payments, fraud, risk, disputes, fintech, or transaction-heavy domains.
• Experience with Agile practices and global organizations with distributed stakeholders.
