Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $194,000–$262,500 per year, plus eligibility for cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define north-star metrics, analytical frameworks, and learning plans for customer and product journeys.
• Design, build, and ship GenAI solutions from prototype through production.
• Architect context-engineering pipelines using knowledge graphs and lead prompt engineering for system and tool prompts, function calling, and prompt versioning.
• Implement evaluation and observability, including ground-truth datasets, confusion metrics, LLM-as-judge workflows, human review, and cost and latency monitoring.
• Analyze unstructured text and customer insights, creating dashboards, visualizations, and self-service GenAI-powered tools.
• Partner with product, engineering, data engineering, business, legal, and security stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and measurable solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of data science experience applying advanced analytical methods to product or business growth.
• Expertise in unstructured text analytics and mining, success metric definition, learning plans, and product strategy.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills, with experience in data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Qlik.
• Experience with causal inference, statistical modeling, machine learning, experimental design, and complex business problem solving.
• Experience with LangChain or LlamaIndex, cloud LLM providers, Airflow or Dagster, retrieval strategies, prompt patterns, context management, and hallucination mitigation.
• Security and privacy mindset, including PII handling, RBAC, and cost and performance tuning; bachelor's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.

• Experience in SaaS or financial technology serving consumer or B2B segments.
• Experience with data integration and pipeline development.
• Experience using LLMs and GenAI workflows to build intelligent visualizations and analytical tools.
