Principal Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States; office-based role

Annual salary: $132,000–$264,000, plus performance bonuses and potential stock compensation.

What you will do

• Design and deploy production-scale AI/ML solutions for risk intelligence, investigations, document intelligence, anomaly detection, entity resolution, graph analytics, forecasting, optimization, and agentic AI.
• Build end-to-end capabilities covering data preparation, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Engineering and Product on architecture, reusable AI services, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Establish evaluation and Responsible AI practices for explainability, reliability, governance, and human oversight.
• Mentor data scientists and contribute to technical standards and platform strategy across Global Governance.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in machine learning, applied statistics, optimization, and production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI and agentic architectures, including RAG, tool use, orchestration, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Strong programming skills and experience with large-scale data and ML platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of analytics experience, or a master’s degree plus 3 years of experience, or 7 years of experience in analytics or a related field.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with NLP, graph ML, anomaly detection, causal inference, forecasting, or optimization.
• Experience with Python, Spark, Scala, R, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch.
• PhD, research publications, or active peer-review experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
