Substance Abuse Counselor

TL;DR

Substance Abuse Counselor (Behavioral Health): Providing individual and group counseling, assessments, treatment planning, and supportive care for patients overcoming substance use disorders with an accent on addiction treatment, crisis intervention, and regulatory compliance. Focus on conducting intakes, coordinating care, maintaining comprehensive records, and helping patients transition to a drug-free life.

Location: On-site in Westerly, Rhode Island, USA. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:00 PM.

Salary: $24.00–$29.00 per hour plus a bonus structure.

What you will do

• Conduct individual alcohol and drug abuse counseling, group sessions, intake, and readmission services.
• Assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.
• Develop and update treatment plans, maintain records, and complete inter-agency documentation.
• Provide crisis intervention, supportive follow-up counseling, referrals, and care coordination with community providers.
• Orient patients to treatment programs and support their social, educational, and occupational goals.
• Participate in OBOT services, staff training, regulatory activities, meetings, and community relations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human services or a related field.
• One of the following credentials is required: CAC I, CAC II, CADC I, CADC II, LADC, or LCDP.
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment planning, human behavior, and human social services.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment with confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively in stressful situations and seek supervisory guidance when needed.
• Compliance with applicable federal and state certification, licensure, and degree requirements.
