TL;DR

Senior Scientist Neuroscience (Protein Engineering): Developing targeted delivery technologies and protein conjugation strategies for CNS indications with an accent on blood-brain-barrier (BBB) crossing and neurodegeneration. Focus on designing in vitro and in vivo evaluations of bioconjugates, leading complex R&D projects, and supervising a research team.

Location: Oss, Netherlands (relocation supported)

What you will do

• Evaluate transcytosis mechanisms for blood-brain-barrier (BBB) crossing and propose complex bioconjugation strategies.
• Design and coordinate in vitro and in vivo evaluation of bioconjugates for efficacy, PK/PD, and brain exposure.
• Lead R&D projects with budgets of 200-500k Euro from early ideation through to technology launch.
• Supervise, train, and develop a team of 2-4 direct reports, promoting scientific competence.
• Manage external collaborations with CROs, academia, and strategic partners.
• Interpret experimental data to guide project direction and contribute to IP filings and patent documents.

Requirements

• PhD in Neuroscience or Protein Engineering.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in Neuroscience.
• Expertise in brain-targeting modalities (bispecific mAbs, shuttles) and BBB models.
• Experience with transgenic mouse models, endothelial cell biology, and bioanalytical methods (ELISA).
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Oss, Netherlands.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex scientific data.

Nice to have

• Ability to analyze antibodies using Protein A chromatography, SEC, IEX, SDS-PAGE, RP-UPLC, and UPLC-MS.
• Proficiency with GraphPad Prism, SciFinder, and WIPO databases.
