What you will do

• Design and implement platform capabilities for Kafka CDC integration, schema automation, structured record access APIs, and database fleet management.
• Set architecture standards, lead design reviews, and drive the technical roadmap for shared cloud storage infrastructure.
• Operate and optimize Postgres and DynamoDB fleets, including capacity planning, monitoring, query tuning, replication, and load optimization.
• Build observability, AWS automation, health models, runbooks, and reliability practices across hundreds of managed databases.
• Coordinate migrations and schema lifecycle initiatives with product teams while managing rollout and rollback risks.
• Mentor engineers, represent SRS requirements in architecture forums, and provide tactical leadership during production incidents.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in platform, infrastructure, or data engineering.
• 5+ years of Kubernetes architecture experience at scale, 7+ years with Terraform, and 7+ years with cloud data technologies.
• Deep fleet-level experience with Postgres or DynamoDB, plus strong AWS experience across IAM, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS, and multi-region environments.
• Production experience with Kafka or event streaming, Kubernetes CRDs and operators, ORM platform tooling, Infrastructure-as-Code, and GitOps deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives from design through production and align engineers and leaders across teams.
• Must be based in Canada and work remotely from British Columbia.

Nice to have

• Managed Postgres platform, CMK/KMS, data governance, schema catalog, or data contract experience.
• Liquibase, Helm, ArgoCD, Harness, Apigee, LLM proxy, or API gateway experience.
• FedRAMP/IL4 compliance experience in cloud environments.
