TL;DR

Senior Software Development Engineer, Authentication (Go/Java/TypeScript): Building and operating authentication services, identity infrastructure, and mobile and web login experiences for a global financial platform with an accent on security, reliability, and seamless user experience. Focus on designing OAuth 2.0/OIDC flows, resilient tier-0 systems, MFA and passwordless login, and machine-to-machine identity at scale.

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Hybrid work with an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time monthly, typically three days per week.

Salary: CAD 152,000–190,000 base salary, plus equity and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Design and build authentication services, identity platform configurations, and native mobile and web login experiences.
• Implement OAuth 2.0, OIDC, PKCE, DPoP, SCIM, JWT lifecycle management, MFA, passwordless authentication, and phone-based login.
• Own Terraform-managed identity infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, alerting, and IdP failover strategies.
• Operate a high-availability tier-0 system, participate in incident response and on-call support, and improve login reliability at global scale.
• Design workload and machine-to-machine identity for internal services and external partners, including token issuance, quotas, caching, and self-service onboarding.
• Partner with application security, compliance, product, and design teams on threat modeling, regulatory requirements, secure reviews, mentoring, and technical strategy.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building backend or full-stack systems.
• Professional experience with Go, Java, Node, TypeScript, or React, plus a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience with customer identity and authentication, including OAuth 2.0/OIDC and platforms such as Auth0, Cognito, or Keycloak, or with large-scale identity and security infrastructure.
• Experience operating high-availability production systems and participating in on-call for critical infrastructure.
• Ability to balance security, user experience, and delivery while collaborating with product, design, security, and compliance partners.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SAML, SCIM, FIDO2/WebAuthn, passkeys, fraud and account-protection systems, or regulated financial environments.
