Employment Counsel (Spanish Employment Law)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid

Part-time role: 24 hours per week.

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on employment law matters, including grievances, dismissals, contracts, benefits, and employee claims.
• Advise the People and Culture team, local management, and business leaders on employee relations, workplace risks, and complex employment issues.
• Manage advice and processes related to works councils, employee representatives, unions, consultation, negotiation, and collective bargaining.
• Support employment litigation, disputes, regulatory inquiries, conduct matters, and remuneration-related compliance.
• Monitor regional employment law developments and update policies and business guidance.
• Support cross-border employment law projects, policy harmonization, workforce changes, and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

• Law degree and admission to practice in at least Spain, with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience.
• Extensive in-house legal experience in a multinational organization.
• Proven experience advising on complex Spanish employment law, including works councils, employee representatives, union representation, consultation, and negotiation.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages.
• Strong analytical, pragmatic, relationship management, and collaboration skills.
• Experience working with AI technologies and across time zones.

• Knowledge of employment law in other jurisdictions, particularly across EMEA.
