What you will do
- Identify therapeutic targets and build the scientific rationale for drug discovery programs.
- Evaluate AI-generated drug candidates for biological plausibility, therapeutic potential, and readiness for advancement.
- Prioritize compounds and make scientific go/no-go decisions across the discovery pipeline.
- Manage CRO partnerships for compound synthesis and biological testing, designing experiments to validate drug design hypotheses.
- Collaborate with founders and computational model developers on model evaluation and development priorities.
- Track target biology, disease mechanisms, therapeutic modalities, and clinical landscapes across relevant areas.
Requirements
- PhD in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, computational biology, or a related field, plus 5+ years of drug discovery experience in pharma or biotech, or equivalent industry experience.
- Hands-on experience advancing programs through target selection, hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization.
- Experience evaluating drug candidates and making scientific go/no-go decisions on real programs.
- Ability to work directly with computational model s and analyze AI-generated molecular data.
- Strong scientific judgment across target biology, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic modalities.
- Ability to build and defend scientific rationales, communicate across disciplines, and make decisions under uncertainty.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-driven drug discovery or computational drug design tools.
- Experience managing CRO relationships for synthesis and biological testing.
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas or modalities, including small molecules and peptides.
- Track record of advancing compounds into preclinical or clinical development.
- Python programming skills and publications in leading scientific or drug discovery journals.
