AI Engineer (Applied AI)

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 USD base pay, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Build production AI services, LLM-powered automation, retrieval systems, summarization, classification, and decision-support workflows.
• Translate business needs from operations, product, data, risk, and engineering stakeholders into measurable AI solutions.
• Develop agentic workflows using tool and function calling, structured outputs, internal APIs, workflow state, and human review patterns.
• Build RAG and knowledge systems using embeddings, vector and hybrid search, reranking, citations, access controls, and freshness strategies.
• Create evaluation suites, regression tests, guardrails, policy checks, PII handling, monitoring, and AI observability practices.
• Develop and deploy scalable Python or Java APIs, microservices, and event-driven workflows on AWS using containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, plus 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building applied AI or generative AI features connected to business workflows, data, documents, or internal services.
• Strong Python and/or Java skills, including API development, testing, debugging, asynchronous processing, and maintainable service design.
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud services and familiarity with containers, deployment automation, observability, and production operations.
• Experience or familiarity with RAG, embeddings, indexing, retrieval strategies, vector stores, agent orchestration, structured outputs, and tool/function calling.
• Ability to communicate clearly, convert business requirements into technical tasks, and explain AI tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Model Context Protocol or similar enterprise connectors.
• Experience with multimodal AI, OCR, document understanding, or content moderation workflows.
• Background applying AI to fraud, payments, risk, customer support, trust and safety, or digital commerce.
