What you will do

• Own mechanical engineering standards, specifications, and basis-of-design documentation across the data center portfolio.
• Lead technical reviews of mechanical designs from site feasibility through construction, commissioning, and integrated systems testing.
• Standardize cooling systems and equipment while balancing capital cost, lifecycle cost, reliability, energy efficiency, and schedule.
• Partner with construction, operations, procurement, finance, external engineers, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Build and mentor an internal mechanical engineering team and present design strategies and investment recommendations to executives and investment committees.
• Evaluate emerging cooling technologies, including direct-to-chip cooling and rear-door heat exchangers for high-density AI/HPC workloads.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
• Leadership experience on hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center projects, with 50MW+ experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of air- and water-side economization, chilled water, DX, evaporative, hybrid, and liquid-cooling systems.
• Experience with mechanical modeling and simulation tools such as CFD, EnergyPlus, or Trane TRACE.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE Standards 55, 90.1, TC9.9, and relevant TIA/EIA and Uptime Institute standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; professional engineering leadership is required, and a PE license is strongly preferred.

• Professional certifications such as CDCDP, PMP, ATD, LEED AP, or DCEP.
• Experience with professional organizations including ASHRAE, 7x24 Exchange, or The Green Grid.
