Backend Engineer (Java)

Location: London, UK; hybrid schedule with 3–4 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems.
• Build REST APIs and engineer microservices for new and existing products.
• Develop systems supporting card payments, treasury management, transaction booking, and crypto liquidity.
• Contribute to greenfield development while improving business-critical legacy systems.
• Apply clean code, domain-driven design, test-driven development, and continuous integration and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to deliver reliable financial solutions.

Requirements

• Demonstrable backend development experience with fluency in Java.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or another scientific discipline.
• Fluent English, both written and verbal.
• Strong communication, learning, ambition, and results-oriented skills.
• Experience building complex products used by millions of people in hypergrowth startups.
