TL;DR
Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (Aerospace): Maintaining and improving automated robotic manufacturing lines for high-voltage electric propulsion systems with an accent on electro-mechanical troubleshooting, equipment uptime, and preventive maintenance. Focus on diagnosing PLC and robotic faults, commissioning new equipment, and improving precision adhesive dispensing, laser welding, and end-of-line testing systems.

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Onsite manufacturing role with a Monday–Friday day-shift schedule and mandatory overtime during peak production periods. Travel of up to 10% may be required for integrator buy-offs.

Salary: $48.00–$72.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Maintain uptime for automated robotic production lines supporting high-voltage electric propulsion systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automation, robotics, PLCs, industrial controls, pneumatic systems, hydraulic power, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Execute and improve preventive maintenance plans to increase equipment reliability.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, integration, and IQ/OQ/PQ qualification with integrators and engineering teams.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and design basic fixtures and electrical panels to improve safety, quality, and cycle time.
  • Mentor junior technicians and operators while sharing technical knowledge on the production floor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an equipment maintenance, controls, or automation technician in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Associate’s degree in mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or electrical technology, or equivalent military or industry experience.
  • Experience teaching or programming industrial robots, preferably Fanuc, and diagnosing faults using PLCs, preferably Allen-Bradley.
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 79, NEC, ANSI/RIA 15.06, and OSHA standards.
  • Commitment to LOTO, arc-flash safety, 5S, logical troubleshooting, and diagnostic problem-solving.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-voltage battery module or pack assembly and powertrain production.
  • Experience with laser welding, resistance spot welding, or high-voltage battery testing equipment.
  • NFPA 70E certification and basic machine-shop experience.
