Salary: $240,000 – $300,000

What you will do

• Serve as primary legal counsel for the end-to-end homeowner origination lifecycle, from marketing to servicing.
• Advise on federal and state regulatory compliance affecting home equity investments and consumer finance products.
• Own compliance matters including UDAAP, fair lending, and other consumer protection obligations.
• Review and clear product, marketing, and advertising materials.
• Draft and negotiate vendor, title, and escrow agreements.
• Manage litigation, consumer complaints, and coordinate with outside counsel.

Requirements

• 7+ years of legal experience, preferably combining law firm and in-house experience at a loan originator or consumer finance company.
• JD required with active bar membership in good standing in a US state.
• Strong familiarity with consumer finance, residential mortgage products, and their governing regulatory frameworks.
• Working knowledge of consumer protection requirements, including UDAAP and fair lending principles.
• Ability to provide clear, actionable advice under time pressure within a fast-paced early-stage startup.

Nice to have

• Experience advising on privacy and data security compliance (e.g., GLBA, CCPA).
• Experience managing litigation or consumer disputes.
