What you will do

• Design and maintain robust software solutions and scalable bioinformatic pipelines.
• Create and optimize data models for assembly, mapping, variant calling, and variant annotation.
• Develop ETL processes to extract and transform data from various sources via APIs.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries and database schemas to enhance reporting speed.
• Build interactive dashboards and automated reports using Azure Pipelines and Nextflow.
• Collaborate with clinical reviewers, laboratory personnel, and developers to deliver timely software integrations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development with a track record of implementing production-ready solutions from scratch.
• Deep expertise in at least two languages from: Python, Perl, R, Bash, Java, C++, or Groovy.
• Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL Server, NoSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or ElasticSearch.
• Strong experience with Agile, Git, and CI/CD practices.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work in Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Domain knowledge from collaborating with laboratory scientists or computational biologists.
• Familiarity with Linux OS, HPC clusters (SLURM, Kubernetes), GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools like Nextflow, Airflow, or Snakemake.
