Sr. Data Engineer

Location: Remote

Salary: $145,000–$165,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Architect, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, dbt, Prefect, and Airflow.
• Administer and optimize Snowflake, AWS S3, Redshift, and Google Cloud data warehouse and lake platforms.
• Design secure external data flows through SFTP, Files.com, and APIs, including monitoring, alerting, dependency management, and incident resolution.
• Automate reporting and operational workflows with reusable pipeline components that improve reliability and reduce technical debt.
• Partner with backend engineers and cross-functional stakeholders across Business Intelligence, Product, Finance, Legal, and Commercial.
• Improve data quality, lineage, governance, documentation, version control, and engineering practices while mentoring teammates.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Snowflake, dbt, and Python for data modeling, transformation, pipeline development, and analytics.
• Advanced SQL skills for complex queries, large-scale data models, and database optimization.
• Proven experience building and operating scalable automated ETL/ELT pipelines with modern orchestration tools.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, including Snowflake, AWS, and Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of secure data exchange through SFTP, Files.com, and APIs, with attention to reliability and compliance.
• Mastery of Git, GitHub, Jira, code review, structured workflows, and operational transparency.

Nice to have

• Experience in startup or rapid-growth environments and regulated industries such as healthcare, healthtech, or SaaS.
• Background supporting business intelligence, analytics, and data science teams through large-scale integrations and multi-tenant reporting.
• Experience with batch and event-driven ingestion, near-real-time pipelines, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO, or SOX.
