Project Engineer / Solid Waste Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; Workplace: On-site. Travel to project sites and remote work may be required as needed.

What you will do

• Design solid-waste-related site development projects, including master plans, drawings, stormwater management, erosion control systems, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Develop reports, studies, conceptual scopes, and engineering packages to support project permitting.
• Perform and review calculations for stormwater management, leachate generation and pipe sizing, slope stability, and compaction density.
• Guide projects from initial concept through design, procurement, bidding, construction administration, and completion.
• Produce reports, drawings, specifications, and preliminary engineering documents.
• Support proposals, client coordination, project budgets, schedules, collaboration, mentoring, and project leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience, including at least 4 years of civil engineering experience in solid waste, land development, or closely related projects.
• Project management experience and the ability to manage allocated workloads, budgets, and schedules.
• Professional Engineer registration preferred; E.I.T. candidates should be on track to become a PE.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong oral, graphic, and written communication skills, with the ability to work with project teams, clients, regulators, and contractors and perform with minimal supervision.
