Staff Software Engineer (QA Automation)

Location: US Remote

Salary: $185,300–$277,900 USD for Zone 2 US locations; $198,200–$297,400 USD for Zone 1 locations

What you will do

• Own the short- and long-term technical vision for test automation and quality architecture across cloud and mobile systems.
• Design, build, and scale resilient, reusable automation frameworks.
• Define automation strategies and make major technical decisions in partnership with the Quality Manager.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, with Azure DevOps experience preferred.
• Mentor engineers across seniority levels through code reviews, best practices, delegation, and technical guidance.
• Analyze quality metrics such as flake risk, execution performance, and release gates, and communicate outcomes to engineering leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years in senior engineering roles focused on automation testing and framework development, or comparable software development experience.
• Expertise in Playwright with TypeScript and Maestro with YAML, plus strong general-purpose programming skills.
• Deep understanding of black-box and white-box testing, API and integration testing, and system-level validation across web and mobile.
• Experience with an AI-first approach to automation and architecture.
• Familiarity with Jira, XRay, Confluence, Claude, and GitHub.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills for collaboration with engineering, product, and quality leadership stakeholders.
