What you will do

• Architect and develop advanced row bar lapping processes and equipment for sub-nanometer dimensional control.
• Lead high-precision process development using root cause determination and rapid experimentation.
• Collaborate with internal equipment teams and external suppliers to build prototype tools from concept to production.
• Integrate robust capabilities into tool designs alongside controls, software, vision, and automation engineers.
• Define equipment and system specifications based on product requirements and KPIVs.
• Deliver transfer packages to enable global volume manufacturing sites to scale process capability.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Bloomington, MN.
• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
• Proven expertise in high precision process and equipment design, development, and qualification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional team environments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and supervise activities of others.

Nice to have

• Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, Python, or JMP.
• Specific experience with lapping/polishing in the semiconductor or HDD industry.
