Junior Data Engineer

TL;DR

Junior Data Engineer (SQL/Python): Develop and maintain internal reporting solutions and reusable data engineering frameworks with an accent on ETL/ELT engineering, data modeling, and building reliable engineering assets. Focus on learning modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Azure) and gradually contributing to customer delivery projects through mentoring, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Location: Remote (UK); must be based in the UK and be able to travel to London when required for collaboration, training, workshops, and customer engagements.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain internal reporting solutions for operational and business decision-making.
• Build and improve reusable engineering frameworks, templates, and accelerators.
• Produce technical documentation, standards, and engineering guidance.
• Support internal tooling to improve delivery consistency and engineering quality.
• Participate in code reviews and technical knowledge sharing; shadow customer workshops and engagements.
• Gradually contribute to customer delivery projects as technical capability develops.

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.
• Must be based in the UK and able to travel to London when required.
• Approximately 6–12 months practical experience via placement year, internship, graduate programme, or similar.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and basic knowledge of Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Degree (or expected degree) in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant STEM subject.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Azure, AWS, or Databricks.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• Understanding of relational databases and data modeling; familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts.
• Experience from university projects, hackathons, or personal development.
