Technical Lead - Banking (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of secure banking services, including wallets, offset accounts, ledgers, and payment flows.
• Collaborate with product and technology teams to implement transactional workflows and integrate external banking and payment providers.
• Write well-tested, fault-tolerant code and drive improvements in security, observability, and infrastructure.
• Guide system design and code reviews while ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with financial standards.
• Mentor engineers, lead the Banking Squad, and raise backend engineering standards across the business.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of backend or full-stack development experience with relational databases, API design, and concurrency control.
• At least 2 years of experience building mission-critical ledgers, payment gateways, or banking platforms.
• Deep understanding of double-entry accounting, reconciliation, idempotent transaction handling, and safe production data migrations.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant, highly consistent architectures and working with observability practices.
• Experience with compliance and auditability standards such as APRA, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2.
• Experience leading cross-functional squads, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
