Director, UX Design (AI)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada; employment-based visa or work permit sponsorship is not available.

Salary: CAD $207,500–$233,500 annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the UX strategy and product design vision for core health data platforms.
• Influence product roadmaps, quarterly resource planning, and creative and technical priorities.
• Manage and develop a team of UX designers while fostering a user-focused design culture.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, data science, and clinical teams to turn complex requirements into user-friendly interfaces.
• Establish and scale design systems and best practices across platform products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of UX design experience with complex enterprise, B2B, or platform software products.
• 5+ years of experience managing and leading design teams.
• Portfolio demonstrating UX strategy, conceptual design, and successful launches of scalable platform or enterprise products.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada is required; visa or work permit sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise products, healthcare, medical services, or data-intensive technical platforms.
• Understanding of AI, machine learning, and data visualization principles.
• Strong communication, presentation, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience navigating ambiguity and setting strategic direction in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Familiarity with building, maintaining, and scaling comprehensive design systems.
