Senior Manager, International Trade Compliance (Legal/Compliance): Shaping and delivering the International Trade Compliance strategy and risk-based internal compliance programme with an accent on sanctions, export controls, and customs. Focus on leading strategic ITC projects, providing expert advisory to commercial teams, and ensuring regulatory alignment across UK, EU, and US regimes.

Location: Hybrid (3 days office, 2 days home). Must be based in the UK (London, Birmingham, Manchester, or Bristol)

What you will do

• Act as a senior subject matter expert for sanctions, export controls, and international trade compliance, providing practical advice to commercial and leadership teams.
• Accountable for shaping, maintaining, and delivering the ITC strategy and risk-based Internal Compliance Programme.
• Lead strategic ITC projects and change activity, translating regulatory requirements into measurable outcomes and sustainable control improvements.
• Partner with assurance, risk, and control teams to assess the effectiveness of ITC controls within agreed risk tolerances.
• Develop and oversee pan-BT sanctions, export controls, and trade compliance training and communications to embed a strong compliance culture.
• Lead horizon scanning and regulatory impact assessments across UK, EU, US, and UN regimes to ensure policies remain current.

Requirements

• Senior-level expertise in sanctions, export controls, and international trade compliance with strong knowledge of UK, EU, UN, and US regimes.
• Extensive experience leading sanctions risk assessments, due diligence, and screening processes.
• Proven track record of designing, implementing, and enhancing Internal Compliance Programmes (ICP).
• Must be based in the United Kingdom to support hybrid office attendance.

Nice to have

• Experience engaging with regulatory authorities such as OFSI, OFAC, DBT, or BIS.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to brief senior leaders on complex ITC matters.
