TL;DR

Software Developer (Cloud): Building innovative tools for NASA’s Earth Observing System to enable data discovery and transformation with an accent on AWS cloud infrastructure and automation. Focus on creating infrastructure-as-code solutions, ensuring high availability, and implementing scalable assets for the Earthdata Cloud.

Location: Based out of Annapolis, MD. Remote/Telework is available, but quarterly travel to Annapolis, MD is required.

What you will do

• Develop innovative tools allowing scientists and students to discover, transform, and improve the quality of Earth Science data.
• Perform operations, maintenance, and development for the NASA Earthdata Cloud in an Agile environment.
• Ensure adherence to operational agreements, NASA standards, and Section 508 compliance.
• Implement issue detection and alerts while leveraging industry best practices for automation and scalability.
• Analyze cloud infrastructure to define, plan, and implement improvement solutions.
• Collaborate with customers, management, and individual contributors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience using Cloud Services in an IaaS or PaaS environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically networking, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• 3-5 years of programming/scripting experience in C++, Python, Java, BASH, or JavaScript.
• Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Must be based in or able to travel to Annapolis, MD quarterly.

Nice to have

• Experience with UNIX OS.
• Full life cycle software design and development experience on large, complex n-tier client/server applications.
• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certifications.
