What you will do

• Wire control panels, fabricate enclosures, and support the mechanical build-out of automation equipment.
• Specify, order, and install sensors and field devices to production-ready standards.
• Assist with PLC/HMI programming tasks following established naming and documentation standards.
• Read and red-line electrical schematics to communicate project scope of work.
• Create and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the lab and pilot line.
• Track task timelines and keep stakeholders informed of progress.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in or able to work on-site in Scotts Valley.
• Organized and methodical work habits with strong documentation skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to validate approaches before implementation.
• Ability to follow and extend existing engineering conventions.
• Basic understanding of electrical/controls concepts (sensors, digital/analog I/O, wiring).

Nice to have

• Experience with sheet-metal work or shop-class fabrication.
• Exposure to PLC/HMI programming, such as ladder logic.
• Experience in electrical or mechanical schematic drafting.
• Experience sourcing industrial components (e.g., AutomationDirect).
• Familiarity with HTTP/REST and software APIs.
