Salary: $190,000 – $210,000

What you will do

• Guide architecture and solutions for the Beacon Datastore and influence standards across Platform teams.
• Implement features following best practices and coach engineers on design patterns.
• Draft RFCs to lead complex feature discovery and technical design phases.
• Ensure high standards for data integrity, design soundness, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and technical leads across platform and scientific teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend development experience with a focus on data engineering and platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and production experience with PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency with data streaming and event processing (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis).
• Proficiency in a modern general-purpose language (willingness to learn TypeScript and Julia).
• Experience deploying services in containerized environments with Kubernetes and IaC tools like Terraform or Helm.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with or interest in using LLM-assisted or agentic coding tools in a production setting.
