What you will do

• Lead technical initiatives to enhance hirify.globalsearch search engine speed and relevance.
• Develop new search features and resolve complex bugs in the Java-based codebase.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on vector search capabilities and Lucene improvements.
• Drive technical design and vision for search functionality and data structures.
• Engage with the open-source community to triage and resolve issues.
• Utilize AI tools to optimize code, debug systems, and accelerate development workflows.

Requirements

• Professional experience with search and vector databases (HNSW, IVF).
• Solid expertise in core Java, including data structures and concurrency.
• Proven track record of designing and leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Experience with asynchronous collaboration in a distributed, remote environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions across distributed teams.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the location of residence and not subject to export control restrictions.

Nice to have

• Prior experience contributing to hirify.globalsearch or similar open-source projects.
• Deep understanding of various data storage technologies like Solr, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with low-level system or hardware-level optimizations.
