What you will do

• Design a custom JSON-based OLAP query language (DSL) and build the translation layer to optimized SQL.
• Implement optimized SQL generation for columnar databases including ClickHouse, SingleStore, and DuckDB.
• Architect multi-dimensional data models and a distributed caching strategy utilizing Redis.
• Build high-performance microservices using Java (Micronaut/Spring Boot) and Project Loom to handle massive concurrent loads.
• Perform low-level JVM tuning (ZGC, Shenandoah) and off-heap memory management for low-latency response times.
• Act as the primary technical authority on query engine internals and maintain rigorous architectural documentation.

Requirements

• 15+ years in software engineering with a focus on backend systems and data infrastructure.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of compilers, ASTs, eBNF, and query planning.
• Expert proficiency in Java, specifically multi-threading, asynchronous I/O, and memory management.
• Experience designing distributed caching layers and managing state across microservices.
• Must be based in North America.
• Minimum 1 year of experience using AI coding agents to enhance productivity.

Nice to have

• Prior experience developing financial systems such as ERP, EPM, or General Ledger platforms.
