General Counsel - Head of Legal and Risk (Legal): Leading and developing the global Legal & Risk function to support international growth with an accent on corporate governance, intellectual property protection, and enterprise risk management. Focus on providing strategic counsel to the executive board, negotiating complex commercial contracts, and building a proactive risk framework.

Location: Hybrid (UK). Must be based in or be able to travel to the Dundee office at least once every fortnight

What you will do

• Lead and develop the global Legal & Risk function to support a growing international business.
• Partner with the Executive Team and Board to provide strategic legal guidance and strengthen organisational governance.
• Build and embed a proactive enterprise risk management framework and governance structures.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships.
• Protect and maximise the value of the intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks and patents.
• Oversee commercial disputes, litigation, and monitor regulatory developments.

Requirements

• Qualification as a solicitor in the UK.
• Extensive post-qualification legal expertise in private practice or in-house roles.
• Proven track record of leading legal teams and advising senior stakeholders on complex matters.
• Deep expertise in commercial contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, and risk management.
• Experience working within international and multicultural environments.
• Ability to balance commercial ambition with thoughtful risk management.

Nice to have

• Expertise in IP licensing, trademarks, patents, and copyright.
• Knowledge of data protection and privacy legislation.
• Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).
• Familiarity with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance.
• Experience with enterprise risk management frameworks.
