Lead Software Engineer (Cloud)

TL;DR

Lead Software Engineer (Cloud): Designing and managing a cloud-based information system for federal law enforcement with an accent on high availability and secure deployment. Focus on implementing scalable APIs, managing hybrid cloud architectures, and providing technical leadership to a high-performing team.

Location: Must eventually be on-site in Huntsville, AL; remote work allowed temporarily until facility is ready.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership in planning, designing, and implementing a cloud-based information system.
• Manage and oversee a high-performing technical team to ensure delivery excellence.
• Interface with government personnel and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement and integrate APIs using REST and gRPC protocols.
• Design system-level configurations, including compute units and operating system specs.
• Conduct code reviews in Golang, Kotlin, and Java and oversee test plan reviews.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI with a polygraph.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Huntsville, AL.
• B.S. in Computer Science and 7+ years of experience in high-demand production environments.
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, Node.js, Rust, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of hybrid architectures (cloud and on-prem) and network virtualization.

Nice to have

• Experience with VoIP architectures and signaling protocols (e.g., Vonage).
• Proficiency with Twilio APIs.
• Experience in Agile environments and familiarity with government ATO processes.
