What you will do

• Define and communicate technical direction and service-level architecture for backend systems.
• Lead the modernization of on-prem monoliths into cloud-native AWS services using domain-driven design.
• Design event-driven systems and scalable data models across relational and NoSQL stores.
• Implement AI- and agentic-first engineering workflows to optimize coding, testing, and CI/CD.
• Ensure production reliability by defining observability standards (SLIs/SLOs) and managing incident remediation.
• Mentor engineers through design and code reviews to raise the overall technical bar.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience or a bachelor's degree in a technology field.
• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or senior IC owning service-level architecture.
• Strong backend engineering skills, preferably in Java or JVM-based environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (compute, messaging, storage) and cloud-native patterns.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, including pub/sub and failure handling.
• Strong quality discipline, including test strategy, CI/CD quality gates, and rigorous code reviews.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or AWS Lambda.
• Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform or CDK.
• Knowledge of NoSQL stores like MongoDB or Redis.
• Experience in regulated environments (PCI, SOX).
• Banking and Financial Services industry experience.
