Director, Electrical Engineering

Location: USA, New Jersey; works from home. Approximately 30% travel is expected.

What you will do

• Lead the Electrical Design Engineering team and assign, prioritize, and manage work across electrical engineering subject matter experts.
• Direct electrical infrastructure design for capital projects across high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems at more than 30 North American facilities.
• Develop and improve electrical specifications, design standards, technical programs, and front-end loading processes.
• Lead feasibility studies, technical due diligence, risk assessments, FMEA activities, protective relaying reviews, and arc-flash studies.
• Support plant operations, technology upgrades, reliability improvements, and initiatives to reduce downtime and operating costs.
• Manage external engineering firms while partnering with Plant Support Engineering, Sourcing, PMO, Operations, Field Services, and Regional Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering/science discipline from an accredited institution.
• 15–20 years of electrical engineering experience, including at least five years in leadership.
• Electrical design experience in architectural engineering, data centers, power generation, large industrial facilities, or similar industries.
• Experience with medium- and high-voltage systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, protective relaying, and transformers.
• Experience managing technical teams, multiple concurrent projects, and project execution from concept design through construction, commissioning, or start-up.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license in the United States.
• Six Sigma certification at Green Belt level or higher.
• Experience supporting facility operations or maintenance.
• Technical due diligence for equipment sourced from low-cost countries, including Asia.
