Data Scientist (Energy Trading)

What you will do

• Explore internal and external data sources for trading the GB intraday power market.
• Build, improve, and maintain models forecasting electricity demand and renewable generation, initially in GB and later across Western Europe.
• Develop forecasting frameworks, tools, and price forecasts using classical and machine learning techniques.
• Automate forecasting processes with quality checks, monitoring, and alerting.
• Collaborate with Trading, Renewables, Flexibility, and other teams to apply shared market knowledge and data.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Python.
• Experience with machine learning.
• Understanding of forecasting techniques, including building baseline models and iterating quickly.
• Ability to communicate analytical approaches, strengths, and limitations.
• Ability to understand commercial and energy-industry concepts and take ownership across multiple projects and tools.
• Interest in advancing the Net Zero transition.
