Engineering Manager (IAM)

Engineering Manager (IAM): Leading the Identity and Access Management team to build a secure, scalable control plane for an AI cloud infrastructure with an accent on authentication, authorization, and key-management services. Focus on designing high-availability distributed systems, implementing RBAC and least-privilege policies, and scaling IAM capabilities for enterprise and hyperscaler customers.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in or be able to work from San Francisco, San Jose, or Bellevue offices 4 days per week

Salary: $297,000 – $440,000

What you will do

• Build, lead, and grow the IAM engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership and high standards.
• Define and deliver the long-term technical and architectural strategy for the IAM platform.
• Develop secure, scalable identity capabilities, including federation, SSO, and workload identity.
• Evolve the authorization platform with a focus on RBAC, policy evaluation, and least privilege.
• Build and own the Key Management Service (KMS), including HSM-backed protection and customer-managed keys.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and operational health of mission-critical IAM services.

Requirements

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading and developing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
• Proven track record of building and operating large-scale distributed systems with high availability.
• Strong technical judgment in cloud infrastructure and IAM (authentication, authorization, policy enforcement).
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with public-cloud or multi-tenant IAM and security token services.
• Knowledge of KMS, HSMs, secrets management, or encryption platforms.
• Experience supporting regulated enterprise customers or high-growth foundational platforms.
• Familiarity with compliance programs such as SOC 2.
