TL;DR
Principal Software Engineer (AI Platform): Building scalable AI platform infrastructure, including LLM gateways, RAG pipelines, agentic runtimes, MCP ecosystems, and developer SDKs with an accent on model routing, observability, governance, and production reliability. Focus on designing multi-agent coordination, optimizing inference costs, automating evaluation, and supporting platform adoption across product teams.
Location: Remote within the United States; U.S.-based candidates only with authorization to work in the U.S.

What you will do
- Lead program execution and technical direction across approximately 20 engineers in Tax, Benefits, Time, Payroll, and Shared Logic domains.
- Design and build a scalable LLM gateway with model routing, prompt management, cost attribution, rate limiting, and caching.
- Develop RAG pipelines, embedding services, vector search infrastructure, and agentic runtime capabilities.
- Build MCP servers, tool ecosystems, multi-agent coordination patterns, and developer SDKs in Python, .NET, and TypeScript.
- Establish AI observability, governance, incident response, security controls, and production quality monitoring.
- Define reusable AI platform patterns and support product-team onboarding and adoption.
Requirements
- U.S.-based location and authorization to work in the United States are required.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Python as the primary language.
- 2+ years of experience building production LLM-powered systems, including inference, RAG, agentic patterns, or AI infrastructure.
- Deep Python expertise, working proficiency in C#/.NET, and hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, or LangChain.
- Production experience with RAG architecture, embedding models, vector search, retrieval quality, Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI, and AI observability.
- Experience building internal platforms or SDKs used by other engineers.
Nice to have
- TypeScript and developer SDK or tooling experience.
- Experience with AI evaluation frameworks and automated regression testing.
- Knowledge of AI governance, access control, audit logging, and security safeguards.
- Familiarity with container-based deployments, Terraform, and AI regulatory frameworks such as NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 42001.
