What you will do
- Track upstream Linux Kernel developments and identify features of interest for Arista products and internal needs.
- Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests using C, C++ and Python; build automated test and test infrastructure.
- Work with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify kernel-dependent components (CPUs and NICs) for integration into Arista products.
- Contribute kernel features back to the mainline Linux kernel community.
- Integrate new kernel versions into EOS and internal development; provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools.
- Analyze and fix customer network issues with Customer Support Engineers and customers; collaborate with System Test Engineers to resolve test problems; mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 8 years experience, or MS + 6 years, or Ph.D. + 3 years, or equivalent experience.
- Expert programming experience in C required; knowledge of C++ and Python desirable.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting Linux kernel bugs and developing kernel features.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation.
- Familiarity with upstream Linux community patching process and procedures.
- Understanding of IP networking architecture and familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
