Engineer II - Validation (Systems)

Location: Burnaby, Canada; laboratory work is performed on-site and remotely.

Annual base salary: $76,000–$114,000 USD

What you will do

• Integrate prototype SoC hardware and firmware with emulation platforms, validation boards, software, and complete system solutions.
• Develop, execute, and document block-, subsystem-, and system-level validation tests for SoC hardware and embedded firmware.
• Build and maintain validation infrastructure using boards, FPGAs, embedded software, device drivers, scripts, and test automation suites.
• Run pre- and post-silicon tests in laboratory environments, investigate failures, and report and resolve bugs with cross-functional teams.
• Present technical findings, lead activities in areas of expertise, mentor junior engineers, and help train the validation team.
• Integrate AI-based tools to improve testing efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 3–10 years of relevant pre- or post-silicon SoC validation experience.
• Experience developing functional validation tests, software, scripts, and working with laboratory test equipment.
• Strong knowledge of digital systems, computer architecture, data communication, digital design, circuit theory, and high-speed signals.
• Python or Tcl/Tk scripting and C/C++ programming proficiency.
• Experience with Linux and Windows, x86-based systems, debugging, and analytical problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCIe, CXL, DDR, NVMe, ONFI, SAS, SATA, I2C, SPI, protocol trace debugging, and high-speed SERDES.
• MIPS or Arm architecture, firmware, host drivers, Linux kernels, ThreadX, or RTOS.
• FPGA emulation, VHDL/Verilog, board design, PCB layout, signal integrity, and manufacturing processes.
