Process Development Engineer (Spector)

Location: US - NY - Plainview; onsite laboratory and customer-facing work with approximately 10–20% domestic and international travel

Salary: $92,524–$117,197 per year, plus bonus opportunity

What you will do

• Execute thin-film deposition experiments using ion beam deposition systems.
• Develop, optimize, characterize, and validate processes for optical, semiconductor, and photonics applications.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize process data for customer evaluations and internal development.
• Prepare technical reports, procedures, test summaries, and process documentation.
• Support customer demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, process transfer, training, and qualification.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues while coordinating with applications, engineering, product management, and field teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, chemistry, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a relevant master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience with thin-film deposition, vacuum systems, semiconductor processing, optical coatings, photonics manufacturing, or related technologies.
• Ability to execute experiments, analyze data, document results, and communicate technical findings clearly.
• Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, applications engineering, process engineering, or related technical environment.
• Knowledge of process characterization, statistical analysis, DOE methodologies, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–20% domestically and internationally.
