What you will do

• Execute thin-film deposition experiments using ion beam deposition systems.
• Develop, optimize, and characterize processes for optical, semiconductor, and photonics applications.
• Prepare technical reports, test summaries, and process documentation.
• Support customer evaluations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept activities.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to identify practical corrective actions.
• Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance of sputtering systems at the R&D location.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Chemistry with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Plainview, NY.
• Hands-on experience with vacuum systems, thin-film deposition, or semiconductor/optical manufacturing.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% domestically and internationally.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, DOE methodologies, and process optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience with photonics, optical communications, or semiconductor devices.
• Expertise in advanced materials applications.
