Process Engineer – Plasma Etch

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. The role is onsite and includes travel approximately 10% of the time. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $124,000–$171,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and optimize plasma etch processes for advanced semiconductor applications.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and drive process improvements using data-driven methods.
• Investigate process and chamber issues through structured root cause analysis and hardware characterization.
• Support customer escalations and provide technical solutions for manufacturing and process challenges.
• Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with customers, R&D, manufacturing, engineering teams, vendors, and suppliers to implement new technologies and continuous improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, materials science, physics, or a related technical field.
• 4–7 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2–5 years with a master’s degree.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with semiconductor fab plasma etch process development and optimization is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with hirify.global etch systems and chambers, including Producer, DPS, Centris, Sym3, Sym3 Y, or Sym3 Z, is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Chamber troubleshooting, process qualification, and customer-facing technical support experience.
• Knowledge of DOE, JMP or equivalent statistical analysis tools, TEM, SEM, and EDS characterization techniques.
