Space Software Engineer (Space)

Location: Adelaide, Australia; hybrid work from home/office may be considered, with a 9-day fortnight option.

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, test, maintain and improve software for Space Domain products supporting real-time situational awareness and mission operations.
• Deliver user interfaces, data integrations and core system functionality aligned with the product roadmap.
• Develop software components using modern SDKs and frameworks while maintaining code quality and documentation.
• Produce technical documentation, architecture descriptions, diagrams and process flows.
• Support secure CI/CD pipelines, integration testing, technical risk management and issue communication.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, engineers and stakeholders to deliver software outcomes.

Requirements

• Proficiency in at least one of Java, JavaScript or C#.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
• Experience applying design patterns and software frameworks to technical and architectural challenges.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and systems engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.
• Experience interpreting and applying software engineering standards and best practices.
• Understanding of configuration management principles, including Git for version control and traceable software development.
• Experience in front-end development, including web applications and user interface design, or back-end development including API development, microservices and containerised applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Australian citizenship and holding or being able to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level are required.
