Space Software Engineer (Defence)

TL;DR

Space Software Engineer (Fullstack/Defence): Developing space domain mission system products for situational awareness and decision support with an accent on user interfaces, data interfaces, and core system functionality. Focus on building secure automated pipelines, integrating SDKs, and implementing real-time distributed software systems.

Location: Adelaide or Melbourne, Australia. Must be an Australian citizen and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1 level).

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test space domain mission system products within an agile integrated development team.
• Develop new software components and features utilizing existing SDKs and frameworks.
• Technical delivery of user interfaces, data interfaces, and core system functionality.
• Maintain software components and create comprehensive engineering documentation, design descriptions, and process flows.
• Perform integration testing and support the expansion of secure automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, including Defence and DSTG.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fluency in at least one programming language: Java, Javascript, or C#.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented design and the application of design patterns.
• Experience with Git and configuration management principles for traceable development.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and systems engineering practices across the SDLC.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with UI Frameworks: React, Vue, Angular, ASP.NET, or MVC.NET.
• Knowledge of relational databases and distributed real-time software systems.
• Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (Azure or AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Background in space domain awareness mission systems and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
• Experience working with Defence and DSTG stakeholders.
