Technical Editor II (Transportation)

What you will do

• Edit technical brochures, standard operating procedures, research reports, technical summaries, and other technical deliverables.
• Transform raw data and technical or engineering content into authoritative, publication-ready documents.
• Perform reference checking, fact-checking, and copyright compliance reviews.
• Integrate complex schematics and data tables with narrative text.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to clarify technical concepts and produce clear communications.
• Manage the full document lifecycle from outline through final publication while ensuring compliance with the GPO Style Manual and agency style guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related scientific or technical field.
• 3–10 years of experience in technical writing or documentation.
• Ability to obtain a USDOT Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential.

Nice to have

• Experience in the transportation sector, especially highway and surface transportation.
