Backend Engineer (Scala) - Assistant Vice President

Location: New York, New York, United States; hybrid schedule with office work Monday–Thursday and remote work on Friday

Salary: $130,000–$170,000 per year, plus equity and an annual performance bonus

What you will do

• Design and build performant cloud-native services and APIs in Scala.
• Develop services using open-source frameworks such as Akka and ZIO.
• Build unit and integration tests with ScalaTest and ZIO Test.
• Collaborate with Product Management to detail requirements, review work in progress, and resolve testing issues.
• Participate in stand-ups, peer code reviews, software development lifecycle activities, and change management.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of web-based application development experience.
• Understanding of relational or NoSQL database concepts and modeling practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, independent working, and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to group development efforts.

Nice to have

• Experience with Scala, Node.js, or Java.
