Software Engineer (Libraries Platform)

Location: United Kingdom — Remote

Base salary: £89,807–£105,393 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement services, APIs, pipelines, and package indexes for secure, reproducible library builds, testing, and distribution.
• Automate artifact creation, updates, vulnerability scanning, CVE remediation, verification, SBOM and provenance generation, and policy enforcement.
• Develop and validate AI-assisted security patch generation with testing and verification.
• Build and operate package indexes, registry mirrors, metadata services, orchestration tools, internal developer tools, and Go CLIs.
• Drive reliability, scalability, observability, SLOs, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-incident improvements.
• Collaborate with Java, JavaScript, Python/AI/ML, Platform, Delivery, Sustaining, and Security teams while mentoring engineers through design reviews and debugging.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience designing, building, and operating infrastructure for language ecosystems or developer platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Go or readiness to ramp up quickly.
• Experience building developer tooling and automation such as plugins, CLIs, code generators, or custom pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, cloud-native infrastructure, IaC, Docker/OCI, Kubernetes, public cloud, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, Argo, Tekton, or equivalent tools.
• Ability to debug production toolchain, compiler, packaging, and infrastructure failures and drive lasting fixes.
• Experience with SRE, platform, or DevOps responsibilities, including reliability, observability, performance tuning, and remote collaboration.

Nice to have

• Open-source contributions in ecosystem tooling, libraries, packaging, or related infrastructure.
• Experience with SLSA, SBOMs, sigstore, provenance, attestations, or secure-by-default packaging.
• Background with Linux distributions, packaging, and reproducible build systems such as Alpine, Wolfi, Debian, Bazel, CMake, or Ninja.
• Previous SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps experience supporting developer productivity, CI/CD, or large language-ecosystem codebases.
