Software Engineer, Security Rules (Rust)

Location: Hybrid, available in London, UK or Lisbon, Portugal. An in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub may be required at the offer stage.

Salary: €54,000–€91,000 annual salary for Portugal-based hires. The role is also eligible for hirify.global’s equity plan.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain microservices for application security products such as Rate Limiting and Web Application Firewall.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including system design, documentation, coding, automated testing, monitoring, and production deployment.
• Build scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems for hirify.global’s global network.
• Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product management teams on complex technical problems.
• Review code, mentor team members, and work with support teams to improve customer outcomes.
• Debug complex production issues and improve operational health, including on-call support outside standard working hours when needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience with a technology company.
• Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, C++, or a similar systems-level language.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Experience monitoring, alerting on, and debugging high-volume production systems.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Memcached, plus strong communication, teamwork, empathy, and ownership.

Nice to have

• Modern Unix/Linux development and runtime experience.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration.
